Local 600 and ICG Magazine hosted two panels and a member reception at this year’s NAB Show in Las Vegas. Thank you to all those who attended our events and met up with the union at the tradeshow.

On Monday, April 15, the Local 600 Sustainability Committee hosted  “Sustainable Production Across the Globe.” The discussion focused on how we can take our passion for sustainable production along with us when working in Canada and Europe while challenging ourselves to think bigger and do more through learning about sustainable production practices in other countries. Panelists included Local 600 Director of Photography Alicia Robbins, Local 705 Costume Designer Georgina Curtis, Green Spark Group’s Zena Harris, and Chair of the Codes & Standards Committee at IATSE Local 728 Hans Lau. Assistant Western Region Director Michael Chambliss moderated the event.

The following day, Local 600 hosted a panel/demo entitled “Safely Executing Long and Successive Takes.” The hour and half discussion and demo session addressed long and successive take safety, detailing the science behind Safety Bulletin #45 and discussing the implementation of safe practices on set along with some of the technology camera operators can employ to safely execute the work. Panelists included Local 600 Operator Shanele Alvarez, and Director of Photography Dawn Fleischman. Business Rep Ryan Sullivan moderated the event.
